I'm currently taking a Graphic Design course at my school and I believe it has been one of the best choices I've ever done in my life. While I place all my effort I sincerely love designing. It's part of my hobby, I just sit in front of the computer, relax, and ideas just start to flow through my mind. This is definitely my favorite class, and I really can't wait to have it during the week. Last week, my teacher personally asked me if I could create the Baseball Tournament Calendar for the school since he trusted my skills and creativity. I felt very important, but challenged. It was a great opportunity to employ my skills but it was definitely a risk. I felt the pressure of the project because the school depended on my design. The image on the left is how the final poster came alive and will soon be printed and electronically displayed on the schools website!

I enjoy creating movies about anything that happens in my life. Last year almost every week I developed a movie for my family trips, school projects, service projects, it was a hobby I definitely enjoyed. iMovie was my best buddy! I got home, just opened my computer and began editing some of the greatest memory pieces of my life experience. Too busy with our new move to a new country, I finally decided to return and work with my best buddy. Actually I had recently discovered there was a new update that looked so cool, I thought the iMovie had changed towards better. I wondered about the new effects, the new themes, it seemed really exciting to start downloading. The first thing that really caught my attention was that know it was suddenly free! That made me even more excited to have it on my computer. After some long hours of waiting I finally had the new iMovie ready to start. Just opened the app and I was totally discombobulated (word I will never forget from Middle School :) ). The new interface didn't give me any positive feeling, however I kept my mind positive for the cool stuff that I would suddenly see. As I explored the program deeper and deeper it was like digging a black hole without a bottom, no new surprises popped out of the screen. Apple hadn't changed the transitions, the maps and the backgrounds were the same as before. I excitedly pressed on the theme movie button and really I believe they didn't use the creativity, themes looked simple and boring in my opinion. It may seem very subjective but its disappointing to realize that one of the best apps is now free and lacks its once positive utility. Finally what bothered me the most was that the advanced effects didn't even appear. There is no option for side by side pictures, everything is just so much more complicated and there is really nothing that really stood out. Changing duration for all pictures in just one click isn't possible anymore. The big question that keeps haunting me is definitely why did they have to change iMovie in such a bad way? It is as though instead of a step forward towards improvement actually it was definitely a step backward to disappointment! Actually I'm very disappointed, iMovie was not only my best buddy but I know many people used this program and now we are starting to doubt it! Should we look for new programs or hope that Apple realizes its mistake and fixes it! I can definitely connect with this video. I'm a person that loves to help others. By looking through my website you can realize that being involved in service projects is one of the things I mostly enjoy in my life right now. What I love from it, is the attitude of the girl. She doesn't give up. She is always looking for the way to make the boy smile and make each day the happiest and worth living. Suffering from a disability is difficult, I can't imagine myself being in his place, in a wheel chair all day, with all my body paralyzed and watching the world and others have fun in front of me. However I believe that sometimes you are destined to be rescued by someone that will make you happy like the little girl. Its cute how at first she doesn't realize that he is impeded to any movement, nevertheless she uses her innovative creativity to play with the kid. Who would have thought of that? If she wasn't there maybe the boy wouldn't sort of experience how to hit the ball. The end is sad for both of them, but she should feel happy about the change she made on the boy. This is definitely an inspiring story, it won as the best animation and was awarded the "premio Goya 2014." BETTER QUALITY VIDEO AT: http://vimeo.com/81592059 I can relate this story to a project that takes place in my new school called “Pasa la chispa.'' It consists of giving each student and every teacher a yellow card. The idea is for you to do something for another person, its your will to help someone else. When you do this act of friendship you should pass on the yellow card and so on. The second message is also that you don't need a yellow card to do an act of kindness it should be your initiative! Don´t lose faith in us! -- KINDNESS KEEPS THE WORLD AFLOAT The world is changing in positive ways. However, let's not forget that it's also changing negatively. People have talked about global warming and climate change but people haven't taken this seriously until today. Since 2012 people have started to actually feel and see the climate change all around the world. It's happening. "The world's getting hotter, the sea's rising and there's increasing evidence neither are naturally occurring phenomena." Read Article Over the recent years have you felt the climate change? How? Scientists weren't close to 100% confident that this was a man made issue, but now they are. Do you really think its a man-made issue or its part of the natural cycle? How do you feel when the article mentions that "Even if we end emission tomorrow, climate change could continue for centuries"? Sadly I will be leaving Peru... That means leaving the I.A. Last year I remember being nervous about IB when suddenly such a cool opportunity opened the door for students who wanted a new type of education. Since the day I found out I was accepted into the I.A, I really can't say how excited I was to be a part of it. We hadn't even started the official class and I was already designing a logo, reading articles, looking at TedTalks, writing a press release, thinking what would be a cool idea for an innovative independent project. I found out I was leaving the day before school started. I can definitely say that one of the first things that came to my mind was the I.A. All my excitement of being accepted, all the work and I was leaving... I knew I had about three weeks to really leave a footprint behind. Since then I have: - written three articles for the Break - continued editing the logo - researching about innovation - being the social media manager of the Break - filming/editing - taking pictures - and much more It has been two and a half weeks of unforgettable experiences. I really want to thank Mr. Topf, and the rest of the I.A. for such memorable, fun and exciting moments but I know the journey's not over. Haven't you realized that communication now a days is so amazing that anywhere you are, you can still remain in contact with your friends and family? Don't think this is over, so far yet so close I will still be part of the I.A. maybe not physically in the class but that doesn't matter, Skype, Facebook, Twitter can do it all! I will never forget the 1st quote of the I.A. "Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs WE ARE THE I.A. Two special guests arrived to class to teach us how to use Adobe Premier and the Chroma Key! The majority of us know how to use iMovie. It's easy, simple and fast. This time we wanted a challenge, try a new software, this is Adobe Premier. I can admit the first time you open the workspace it's like chinese. Everything is so confusing you feel like giving up. Here comes in our belief in having a "master" to guide us, to improve our efficiency, to give us the basics so that from there we can explore our curiosity and try all the effects that the program offers. Just wait for the coolest videos the I.A. will soon publish! Sincerely, I can tell you that reading magazines online, the newspaper online/print isn't part of my daily routine or hobby. But I can say that as time passes by is definitely a MUST, especially now that I'm a writer for The Break. During my free time this past two days I decided to read many articles, especially the ones that arrive to my e-mail since I'm subscribed to Google Alerts. The article I liked the most was "Is Apple A Company On The Decline?." The question you might ask me is WHY??? Well, the answers is due to many facts. First of all was the title. Giving an article a catchy name, made me realize how easily it can attract a reader to click and read more about the topic. I'm a fan of Apple products and just the word Apple in the title made me want to read it. The second reason was the style in which the article was written. The author is anonymous but I can definitely say it was an article that kept me reading, it was entertaining, and relevant. Looking more specifically at the style I liked how he/she began the article by saying, "When I accepted a job offer at Apple this year, some friends were surprised I did so." Moreover, as I continued to read I made a personal connection because since the death of Steve Jobs I have heard the same comments mentioned. Also I like opinion-based articles, because they have a voice and it feels totally engaging to read. Personally I don't like articles that have long paragraphs, never get to the point, and very formal. This article is completely opposite; it's informal so its easier to get engaged and the questions included throughout the content make you think, analyze and enjoy the reading. |
