This was definitely a remarkable experience. For two consecutive years I was able to participate in this CAS project along with some other students from high school.
The first year, our main goal was to create and build a library for the community, installing the books, registering them in the computer. We even donated some computers from school. It was hardwork but definitely very rewarding. The best memory I have from the first year is sitting down doing all the work and when I looked towards the window I could see all the parents and kids watching us with their little cute curious eyes, which made us even more excited to be there. It was great to know that a small act can benefit others and leave a big smile on their faces.
2013 was my second year at Huaraz! This time it was less taking and more sharing with the community. We still took some books, but we organized their one small classroom, we redesigned their library and tech lab. There was a day we spent the morning playing games with the kids, reading them books, using creativity to design paper puppets, it was a great day. We had the opportunity to go to a house to try some of their typical food, and just take in the amazing landscape that unfolded in every direction.
